Sorry Weāre Booked.. in Bali!
Four days, three nights at Desa Potato Head Bali, your own studio room or oceanfront studio, a curated literary programme, and a small group of women who take their reading seriously fun. This is your out-of-office.
What to ExpectThe venueā Potato Head Bali
Bali, Indonesia
Potato Head is not a hotel that needs an introduction. Perched on Seminyak Beach with one of Bali's most iconic views, it's where considered design meets an irreverent creative spirit. Two room types are available, both at Potato Head, both with the same full programme. Choose the experience that suits you.
This is a hotel-based retreat, which means you get your own room throughout. Unlike villa retreats where rooms are shared by default, every attendee here has their own space to retreat to, recharge, and read in peace. Your room is entirely yours unless you picked a shared option
The Programme
Welcome Dinner
Come together over an incredible meal to chat and take part in our coveted book swap
Reading Discussion
A hosted conversation around the retreat book. Casual, no prep required.
One Book Giving
The closing ceremony. You choose one book curated by us based on its clue. Paired with our final dinner together.
Dedicated Reading Time
Phone-free hours where the only agenda is your TBR pile. Pool, balcony, beach, wherever you want. This is the whole point.
Book Tasting
Like a wine tasting, but for books. Two minutes each to pitch a book you love, the vibe, a line, why it wrecked you.
No prep, just talking.

A book-to-film screening on night 2, snacks, sofas, and the group debate about whether the book was better.
(It always is.)

ROOMS
DESA/BAMBOO/SUNRISE STUDIO
Compact but beautifully considered, each room is a calm, well-appointed space with everything you need and nothing you don't. Expect clean lines, quality finishes, and a layout designed for comfort. You're steps from the pool and beach club, with the full energy of the hotel on your doorstep. The ideal base for a retreat that's equal parts restful and social.
Oceanfront Studios
At 72sqm, Oceanfront Studios are the signature room at Potato Head, and once you're in one, you'll understand why. Each studio opens directly onto a private balcony with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean, and features a deep soaking tub, a generously sized layout, and the kind of light that makes everything feel slower and better. Wake up to the sound of the sea, read on your balcony in the afternoon, and fall asleep with the ocean in front of you. This is the room you'll want to stay in forever.
š Please note: Some shared rooms may include guests sharing a double bed. If you'd prefer not to, please book a solo occupancy room instead

-
Yes ā you'll be added to a WhatsApp group with the other guests about 6 weeks before the retreat, giving you plenty of time to get acquainted before you arrive.
-
Our retreats are open to all adult women. Guests typically range from their 20s to 50s, but anyone who loves books and a good trip is welcome.
-
Each day has a rhythm ā a morning activity, meals together, and dedicated reading time ā but the afternoons are largely free for you to do as you please. Spa, pool, beach, nap, more reading. The full itinerary is shared in advance via the WhatsApp group so you know what to expect.
-
Yes, everything on the programme is optional, including evening meals. If you need a quiet evening in your room, that's completely fine. The retreat is designed to feel like a holiday, not a schedule, but there wonāt be any refund due to this exclusions.
-
The Book Swap on night one is the natural ice breaker and talking about it over dinner tends to do the work for you. If you're more introverted, you can share any preferences in advance and we'll make sure you feel at ease.
-
Yes, but the discussion is casual. Read as much or as little as you like. The book is announced about 6 weeks out so you have time if you want it.
-
One book you love and think someone else would too. It doesn't have to be new ā a well-loved copy works perfectly. Please wrap it so it's a surprise.
-
We'll keep this as a surprise, but expect something thoughtful, bookish, and retreat-ready. Every attendee gets one.
-
Absolutely. Most people do. The retreat is designed to be warm and easy for solo travellers, you'll meet the group in the WhatsApp chat before you even arrive.
-
Both are at Potato Head and both come with the exact same programme, meals, and experience. Oceanfront Studios are larger (72sqm) with a private balcony and direct ocean views. Studios are a more accessible option with the same great retreat.
-
Shared means you and one other attendee split the room; solo means it's entirely yours. Both get the exact same programme and experience ā the only difference is whether you have your own space at the end of the day.
-
Unlike villa retreats where rooms are often shared by default, a hotel-based retreat means every attendee has their own private room for the duration unless you chose to share. Your space is yours to read in, sleep in, and decompress in, completely on your own terms.
-
Yes, subject to availability. If your plans change, just reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate. The price will be adjusted accordingly.

As this is a hotel, standard housekeeping applies ā but specifics may vary. We'll confirm the arrangements in your welcome pack closer to the retreat date.
-
Meals reflect the local Indonesian cuisine, a mix of familiar favourites and exciting new dishes. All meals across the retreat are included, and dietary requirements are fully catered for.

All payments are processed in SGD. Our payment provider will handle the currency conversion for you ā you'll be responsible for any conversion fees charged by your bank or card provider.
